Contacting Doctors and Chemists Out of Hours - Emergency
There are many private doctors and chemists in Cyprus and clinics are usually open from 9am to 1pm and from 4 to 7pm, Mondays to Fridays.
Doctors charge around €20 for a consultation. Almost all brands of medicines are available in Cyprus and pharmacists are highly qualified (and usually speak English). They can provide medical advice and treatment for minor ailments. Local newspapers (Cyprus Weekly or Cyprus Mail) list chemists' that are open during the night or at weekends and holidays, a long with the names and numbers of doctors who are on call out of hours for emergenies. There are also area-specific numbers that you can ring out of hours to obtain information about private doctors who are on call and chemists' that are open. In an emergency, please go straight to your local government hospital, they will treat you and or your family. Cyprus government hospitals will always treat any patient on an emergency basis.
