Ayia Napa Cyprus - Information

Ayia Napa in Cyprus was once a sleepy fishing village, not that you would believe it now.

It is full of life with an abundance of bars, restaurants, clubs, nightclubs and clubbers. This resort is more for the younger generation. If it's a quiet relaxing holiday you're after, then it would be advisable to stay clear of Ayia Napa. Roughly one third of all tourists who visit Cyprus go to Ayia Napa, mainly for the clubbing and nightlife it has to offer.

Ayia Napa has some of the best beaches on offer in Cyprus, in particular Nissi beach with golden sands and clear blue water. Like most beaches in Cyprus, there is a great variety of water sports on offer.

The small harbour of Ayia Napa is the perfect place to sit with a nice cool drink and do a bit of people watching.

In the centre of the town you will find plenty of shops selling everything from food, drinks, clothes to souvenirs. In the town square there is a 16th century medieval monastery and you'll also find a Marine Life Museum, the first of its kind in Cyprus. As the day ends and the sun starts to set, this is when things really start to get going. All the young clubbers head off back to their accommodation; to put on their evening clothes, ready to party the night away at Ayia Napa's range of bars and clubs. The nights are very noisy with lots of bars playing a range of reggae, house and dance music until the early hours of the morning. The perfect place if you're a party animal, or just want to enjoy yourself.

There is also a new water park in Ayia Napa called Waterworld the biggest of its kind in Europe. The water park has a theme based on 'Ancient Greece'. You can find yourself floating down 'Odyssee River' or taking a nice relaxing soak in 'Aphrodite's Bathes'. If it's thrills you're after, then there are plenty of fast slides and water rides. If you have little children, or even big ones, there is a special dedicated pool just for them.
